Too Much Action’s Stakes Victory Highlights Strong Weekend for Legacy Bloodstock Sales Grads

Keeneland September grad Too Much Action stormed to the lead at the top of the lane and never looked back in the $75,000 Spirit of Texas Stakes on Saturday, March 22 at Sam Houston.

Bred by Mike Rutherford, Too Much Action secured his 9th lifetime win and second black type victory, pushing his career earnings to $375,046. He was sold by Legacy Bloodstock at the 2020 Keeneland September sale for Mr. Rutherford.

Keeneland September grad Mo Hair Sam became the latest black type runner sold by Legacy Bloodstock with his strong runner up finish in the $250,000 Animal Kingdom Stakes at Turfway Park. The 3-year-old son of Mo Town was bred by Harmony Farms and now races for Randle L. Glosson with John Hanock handling training duties.

Keeneland September grad Bodi Zafa remained unbeaten in his 3-year-old campaign with a 3-length score in the Arizona Derby at Turf Paradise. Bred by Cove Springs and racing for owner George Todaro, Bodi Zafa’s scorecard now shows 4 victories from 6 starts and earnings of $91,950.

Another Keeneland September grad, Vino Frizzante, rolled to a 2 1/2-length triumph in a $70,000 Maiden Special at Gulfstream Park. Bred by Scott Pierce, the daughter of Vino Rosso has now earned $109,858 for owner David E. Campbell.

Overall, eight Legacy Bloodstock sales grads have earned black type already in 2025, including Fountain of Youth (G2) runner up River Thames, who is pointing to the $1 million Blue Grass S. (G1) on April 5 on his way to the Kentucky Derby. Legacy grads have also amassed nearly $2.2 million in purse earnings this season.
