A pair of $75,000 juvenile Stakes were featured on the July 18 Best of Ohio Day card at Belterra Park and both were won by 2024 Legacy Bloodstock yearling graduates.
Kontiki set sail first with her dominant victory 7 3/4 length tour de force in the Tah Dah S. at 5.5 furlongs. She was sold by Legacy Bloodstock at last year’s Keeneland September sale for $170,000, making her the highest-priced yearling of 2024 by Darley´s Midshipman.
Racing in the famed colors of Stonestreet Farm, Kontiki scored her second straight 7+ length victory in the Tah Dah. She was bred by Smokin C, LLC out of the Dixie Union mare Hula Skirt, also the dam of Generous Lover, winner of the Generous Lover S. that same afternoon at Belterra. The son of Bolt d’Oro is now a 3x Stakes winner of over $400,000 and Legacy Bloodstock will offer the Omaha Beach half brother to both Kontiki and Generous Lover at the 2025 September sale.
Two hours after Kontiki got her picture taken, No More Cents made his successful racing debut by winning the $75,000 Hoover Stakes. A son of Goldencents out of Kajawa, the juvenile colt is the latest black type winner bred Joe Cowles’ T/C Stable, LLC and raised at Gunston Hall Farm.
He was purchased from Legacy Bloodstock at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton October sale by trainer Kenny McPeek for owner Shamrock Stables LLC. McPeek is no stranger to the progeny of the Spendthrift Farm stallion Goldencents, having captured the 2024 Kentucky Derby with the Goldencents son Mystik Dan.
